Hezbollah: The Changing Face of Terrorism

By Judith Palmer Harik 224 Pages |PDF |Size : 2 MB

Description :

Hezbollah is second only to al Qaeda as a priority target in the War on Terror. The “Party of God”, as it is sometimes known, is an Iranian-backed Shi’ite fundamentalist organization which arose after the Lebanese civil war in 1982 in order to resist the Israeli invasion. Since the 1980s, Hezbollah has been regarded by the US as a terrorist organization. They have attempted in the past 10 years to transform themselves from a radical, clandestine militia to a mainstream political party with a resistance wing. This book traces the group’s origins, and how they have attempted to transform themselves. Judith Harik present a balanced debate about the struggle between Hezbollah and the US over whether or not they are a terrorist group, or a resistance force fighting Israeli occupation.

CIA Government Book of Dirty Tricks

CIA Government Book of Dirty Tricks

Here is a short sample of what you will find in this 119 Page Electronic Book... ADDITIVES:
Harmful additives are a formidable weapon against machinery, people, and processes. Additives perform one or more of the following:
1) Corrosion...sulfuric acid, for example, will corrode the gutter, eaves, and downspout of a home; dumped salt will mar a building surface or floor and kill a lawn.
2) Contamination...copper salts will rot rubber products; soap in a public or corporate fountain will create giant foam. Or put it in a steam boiler if you're more serious about the matter.
3) Abrasion...introduction of light, coarse materials, such as resins, to automotive fuel, or metal filings placed in the gears of industrial machinery, will create frictional havoc.
4) Impurities...adding sugar to gasoline creates harmful carbon from the burning sugar, stopping the engine. Soaps and detergents make wonderful additions to food and could even be beneficial if the target happens to be constipated. If not, then soap laden munchies or drinks will really keep him moving. During my stay as an invited guest of Uncle Sam I recall some dirtytricksters' making an action statement against being in KP. They liberally coated various pans and cooking vessels with GI soap. They washed mugs with a lot of soap, then neglected to rinse them before letting the utensils dry. Later, when some drinkable potion like milk or coffee was poured into the mug by some unsuspecting mark, the soap was activated. Whoosh! Soap is also a very effective additive to containers in which food is prepared. The secret is to disguise the taste. Various other additives will do that and other tricks. CONTENTS:

Spycraft: The Secret History of the CIA's Spytechs, from Communism to Al-Qaeda

Spycraft: The Secret History of the CIA's Spytechs, from Communism to Al-Qaeda

576 pages | PDF | 9.9MB
Often, books on this type of topic are either really dry reading, or they are so novel-like that you wonder how much of it is "made up". Spycraft strikes a nice balance between interesting facts and history and good stories. The authors (Mr. Wallace and Mr. Melton) are certainly among the most qualified people around to discuss TSD/OTS history, so there are no worries about authenticity of the material. I can highly recommend this book.

Today's CIA is regularly criticized for emphasizing technology at the expense of human intelligence. In this history of the agency's Office of Technical Services, Wallace, its former head, and academic specialist Melton (Ultimate Spy) refute the charge with exciting content and slam-bang style. The book's chief value is its perspective on the synergy of technology and tradecraft. From WWII through the Cold War and up to the present, the authors say, technical equipment—for clandestine audio surveillance, for example—has been an essential element of agent operations. In the post–Cold War information society, technology plays an even more significant role in fighting terrorism. Agents remain important, along with their traditional skills. Increasingly, however, they support clandestine technical operations, especially infiltrating and compromising computer networks. The authors persuasively argue that employing and defending against sophisticated digital technology is the primary challenge facing U.S. intelligence in the 21st century. Their position invites challenge, but it cannot be dismissed. 32 pages of photos, over 100 b&w illus. throughout.

Manhunt RIP

Manhunt RIP

Manhunt | PC | 250 MB
Manhunt is perhaps the most violent, amoral video game ever made, and its entirely unapologetic about it. Produced by the same team that created Grand Theft Auto, it sees you cast as a death-row inmate reprieved from the chair to take part in a sick game run by a snuff-movie producer.
Youre forced to sneak around a series of maze-like levels killing "hunters" and SWAT-team members as you go, using such unsavoury methods as suffocating them with plastic bags and cutting their throats with shards of glass. This is primarily a stealth-based title, using many of the same techniques as Metal Gear Solid--you shuffle around walls, peer round corners and use noise to attract and distract the enemy.

This aspect of the game works extremely well thanks to the superb graphics and sound. These create an intense level of tension, so that when you mistakenly knock into an abandoned shopping trolley and alert a hunter, its really quite terrifying. The combat, just as in GTA, is handled rather less well--but its not anywhere bad enough to ruin the whole game.

The story revolves around a man on Death Row named James Earl Cash, sentenced to death by lethal injection due to a grievous crime, the nature of which is never explained. An exceedingly wealthy former Hollywood director named Starkweather, who runs a seedy community in an impoverished town named Carcer City, bribes the doctors to inject Cash with a powerful sedative instead.

The Director, as he likes to call himself, creates and distributes snuff films through a company named Valiant Video Enterprises. He sets up Cash as his latest star using the corrupt Carcer City police force, as well as his personal "Cerberus" guards, to corral Cash into butchering Carcers local gangs on camera to make violent, visceral, underground snuff films.

Just add talent. This comprehensive book gives today's digital animators all the lessons they never had - classical animation techniques used by the most original animators of our time.

Review
"From traditional to computer animation, from film to gaming, a great text for all who teach."
- Robert Adams, Walt Disney Productions/Warner Bros "All encompassing"
- Brian Martin, FOX NET Animator

This book is a well-written, smart tomes that makes you wish the author was one of your teachers in school. Because the book resonates with wisdom that comes with spending years in the trenches of Toon Town, it should be a must-read for anyone who wants to brave the waters of digital animation. Overall, it's a handsome companion to White's earlier primer, The animator's Workbook." Animation, Nov. 2006.
